Today, we are lucky to live in an time where great ideas within reach at a moment’s notice. With Pinterest, Instagram, and just the Internet in general, you can get inspiration for just about any DIY project or event you can think of.
At San Diego Drums and Totes, we constantly are asked by customers for ideas on how to use our drums, IBC totes, food grade containers, rain barrels, and wine and whiskey barrels. Perhaps people have a certain problem, and want to know if one of our products can fix it. Or, they want decorating ideas using some of our more rustic materials. Well, the list goes on and on, and really, if you have some patience and a few materials, the possibilities are endless.
Currently, we are having a sale on our wine barrels, which are great finds if you’re crafty. Our production-quality barrels are $150/each, while our decorative-quality ones are only $99/each. What’s the difference? Well, our production-quality wine barrels are newer and in a little better condition. They are still functional, and could even hold liquids if desired. Our decorative-quality wine barrels tend to have more character, though. The wood is a bit more worn, maybe with some old wine stains, but still great for many projects around the house.
With the current trend of “rustic” “shabby chic” and “upcycling,” our wine barrels make great additions to any home or business. All you need is a circular piece of glass to put on top of a barrel, and you have yourself a great new breakfast nook table! Or, saw out one end, line the inside with a trash bag or tarp, and fill with ice. Voila, you have a great new cooler for your next backyard BBQ.
If you’re not used to using tools, you may want help with these next few ideas. By cutting the barrels in half width-wise, you can create a great cover for planters. Say goodbye to those basic plastic pots that are an eyesore! The half wine barrel also make a great dog bed for a small to medium-sized pet! Simply purchase a cushion or bed liner at any pet store and line the inside of the barrel. Now, even your pet’s bed can match the style of your house.
Finally, our production-grade wine barrels can be used in a similar fashion to our new and used plastic rain barrels. At San Diego Drums and Totes, we sell all the accessories you would need to get started on setting up a rain barrel for your garden, including diverters, hoses and more. Our savvy staff will advise you on which product will fit your needs the best.
We only have a limited quality of each type of wine barrel available, so be sure to inquire about our inventory at either our Lemon Grove or San Marcos warehouses. Happy crafting!
