What does "Food Grade" mean?
When food grade is used to describe a used drum it refers to the previous contents of the drum. All of our used food grade drums where previously used to hold an ingredient or product for an industrial food manufacturer. Although they have only contained food products we do not recommend these drums for human consumption.
What does UN number mean?
TheĀ UNĀ number signifies that a container has been tested and has passed UN packaging performance tests. This number is only valid on new and reconditioned containers. Here is a link that gives a more detailed description of UN numbers.
What does "Reconditioned" mean?
Reconditioned containers are previously used containers that have gone through a recertification process. During this reconditioning, containers are cleaned internally and externally and brought up to current UN Specifications for that specific drum. The process can vary but it always includes: Leak testing, and a thorough hi temp cleaning. Carbon steel drums also get a new paint job. Reconditioned drums or totes are not FDA approved for food use.
What type of plastic are you drums made of?
All of our plastic drums, buckets and jugs are made from BPA free High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
Can I use your drums for emergency drinking water?
Yes all of our NEW plastic drums, jugs and buckets are FDA approved for water and food product storage.
What is a bunghole?
A bung hole is a hole in a barrel, cask or keg. This hole is used for draining the liquid from an airtight container. These holes are usually drilled either at the side or at the head of a barrel and secured with a bung.
What is a bung?
A bung is a cap or stopper for closing and securing a hole in a container (Barrel). Usually NPT or Buttress threaded.
What type of drums do you use for your rain barrels?
We usually use 50g -58g drums that previously contained Greek Olives, Peppercinis or Banana Peppers. These drums have ben rinsed with cold water and are a Terra Cotta color. You can use any of our plastic drums or totes for rain barrels if desired.
What are your large square tanks called?
These are called IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) Totes and range from 220g to 330g.
What type of openings do IBC Totes have?
IBC Totes have a 6ā diameter fill cap and a 2ā diameter ball or butterfly drain valve on the bottom.
Do you offer delivery of your drums or IBC Totes?
